How did you feel when you found out you were chosen to be Kappa Psi’s brother of the month?
When I found out that I was chosen for the month of April, I was both shocked and honored. I appreciate the recognition and am excited to put more time and creative energy into our social media accounts in the future!
What are some of the on-going projects you are involved in and what are you enjoying the most so far from being a Brother of Kappa Psi?
I am thankful for the friendships and connections I have made within this professional fraternity. I am currently enjoying my involvement in the website committee, the philanthropy committee and in the scholarship committee. I am also responsible for posting to the Zeta Sigma social media accounts which is my favorite!
What is your current year in pharmacy school and what are you enjoying the most out of your classes? Is there a particular class you enjoy the most? Why?
I am currently a P2 student and am most enjoying the mental health section of our Drug Action 3 course. I am fascinated learning about how and where the different medications and illicit drugs act on the brain. I believe there is a lot of room for research, education and destigmatization in the realm of mental illness and addiction.
What initially made you interested in pursuing a career in pharmacy?
I was inspired by my mother, who is also a pharmacist, to pursue a career in health care at a very young age. CHSU College of Pharmacy allowed me to stay close to my family and friends, while following in my mother’s footsteps and pursuing a career in pharmacy. I love the pharmacy profession because I want to be a valuable member of the health care team. Being able to interact directly with patients while providing them with the tools and medications to get healthy allows me to give back to my community.
Do you have any hobbies? What are your interest and/or how do you usually like to spend your free time?
In my free time I enjoy going to paint nights, decorating my room, shopping, and going to the beach!
What is an interesting fact or story about you that many people don’t know?
Many people don’t know that along with my pharmacy pre requisites I majored in communication with an emphasis in multimedia production during my undergrad at Fresno Pacific University.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
In five years from now I hope to be working in a community or independent pharmacy setting somewhere close to home in the central valley.
